Overview
Network Modernization replaces aging switches, routers, and wireless access points across General Conference offices with current-generation equipment, and upgrades the connections between buildings and to the cloud services staff rely on every day.
The project is led by the Information Services team and runs in phases so that offices stay connected throughout. Each site is scheduled, upgraded, and verified before the next one begins.
What the project delivers
Speed: higher capacity links and modern Wi-Fi for video meetings, file sharing, and cloud applications.
Resilience: redundant paths and equipment so a single failure no longer takes an office offline.
Security: network segmentation, up-to-date firmware, and monitoring that supports the Zero-Trust Access pilot.
Timeline
Assess: inventory existing equipment and measure current performance at each office. Complete.
Design: agree the target architecture and standard equipment for every site. Complete.
Upgrade: replace core and edge equipment office by office. In progress.
Verify and hand over: test every site, document the new setup, and hand it to day-to-day operations. Planned.
What staff will notice
Short, scheduled maintenance windows are announced ahead of each office upgrade. Afterwards, staff should see faster connections and fewer dropouts. No action is needed on personal devices.
